A diet for lowering triglycerides is based on certain foods that you have to favor, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, black coffee, herbal teas, skim milk and a lot of water. As far as meat is concerned, you should definitely stick to the white meat. The best meat to eat is actually fish, such as summer flounder, pacific salmon, croaker, haddock, and tilapia. The other types of meat you can eat while keeping a diet to lower triglycerides are the lean meats, such as chicken, turkey, veal and non fat cuts of beef. Sea food is also a good choice if you are trying to keep your triglyceride levels low. However, you should keep in mind that you should eat meat only once a week, either broiled or baked.

Vegetables are definitely the basis of any diet to lower triglycerides. Most vegetable are recommended and one dark-green or deep yellow vegetable is recommended daily. Also, vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli and celery are very appreciated for their fiber content, which helps reducing cholesterol. The best way to eat vegetables is fresh, but you can also get great results by steaming them. Also, a diet to lower triglycerides allows you to eat broiled, strained, or braised vegetables. There are other few tips that you may want to keep in mind while keeping a diet to lower triglycerides. One very important tip is that you should restrict eating bread and other cereals to one plain serving per day. Instead of bread you can try boiled beans. Eggs yolks should also be limited to twice a week, while egg substitutes or whites have no restrictions. You can use all kinds of spices you want and also you can add fat free bouillon for more flavor.
