Difference between leadership and stress
To understand the difference between leadership and stress, we have to know what leadership and stress mean. Leadership is a means used by a person in order to act upon other people; to accomplish their tasks and objectives, but a leader’s job, also involve canceling most of one’s needs, for those of company. A leader must have a great power of influence, responsibility, enthusiasm, knowledge, and skills. The main things that a leader has to do are to guide people, make the tasks interesting, recruit new team, and building team. Such a person has to possess at least these qualities: honesty, competence, and inspiration. The first one is acquired because a leader must behave ethical, has to put the truth before all other things, and he should act in an honorable way in any circumstance.
The second term is considered to be, in some people’s opinion, the most important because if a person wants to be followed by others, he must prove, first, that he is able to do certain things. In addition, the third one is about the capacity to be energetic, enthusiastic and positive most, if not all the time, because is well known that the leader’s attitude has a great impact on the others. It is both a pleasant and a hard work, but even if the reward is great, this job absorbs a lot of time and energy.
This brings us to our next keyword: stress. This is the most common affection of our world, and it is advancing more every day. It is an accumulation of our body’s reactions towards the action of some factors. Stress occurs whenever a misfit appears between what a person is asked to do and what he can do. The main causes of stress are family conflicts, different events, the lack of pleasant ambiance, overwhelming sensation, the lack of time, traffic, deadlines, the tension, or the pressure. It also causes a chain of disturbing sensations, such as headache, insomnia, discomfort, allergy, breathing problems and other medical problems. The worst thing is that this illness acts upon so many people all around the world. Everybody, regardless of his or her race, origin, sex or culture can develop this illness in the future.
Now that we now what both of the terms mean, let’s see the difference between leadership and stress? Firstly, a leadership implies calm, which is not a very well known factor among the stressed persons. Secondly, we know now that stress appears when the person’s activities become overwhelming. Nevertheless, an overpowering activity is not something typical for a leader. A good leader always correlates his charges or tasks, in such a manner that he should never be forced to face a critical situation. Another quality possessed by a leader, is the everlasting enthusiasm and energy. This is, beyond doubt, not an average quality. The lack of enthusiasm is an obvious symptom of stress, and is frequently found amidst the majority of the people.
These are just a few differences between leadership and stress and, in order to find them, we only have to make a short analyze of a leader’s abilities and skills, like knowledge. These are also important in one’s assignment because without them, any possible action will be slowed down, and all the tasks will be very difficult to accomplish. However, since not everyone owns an adequate level of knowledge suitable for the job request, the emergence of stress is imminent.
So the conclusion is, that someone practicing leadership and possesses all the qualities, skills and abilities of a good leader has a very few chances to become a stressed person due to his/her competence, enthusiasm, knowledge, inspiration, and other abilities and skills.
